Kelly, Charles E.   Born12/5/45.  Died 2/14/11.  Charles E. Kelly, 65, of Duluth, passed in his residence.

Charles has lived in Duluth most of his life. He was the oldest of 12 children and helped his mother raise their family with tenacious guidance. He graduated from Denfeld High School, class of 1965, and participated in football and track while in school.

Charles had worked as a steel worker and then for Superwood/Georgia Pacific retiring in 2008 after 35 years of service. He served as vice-president of the United Paper Workers Union and was very active within the athletic community.

Charles was preceded in death by his brother Dale Kelly; and sisters Veverly Kelly, Rose Kelly and Deborah Kelly.

He is survived by his mother, Louise Fails, of Duluth; daughters Clarissa Kelly of Duluth and Angela (Jay) King-Jones of Minneapolis; brothers Glen (Diane) Kelly of Flint, Mich., Allen Kelly of Atlanta, Ga., Brian Kelly of Rhode Island, Patrick (Jill) Fails of Owatonna, Minn., and Michael (Hope) Fails of Esko; sisters Shirley Vega of Chicago, Ill., and Mary Kelly of Minneapolis; grandchildren Noah and Joshua Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
