Our evening at the Midwest Regional Inaugural Ball was very exciting!  We felt honored to have been included in the guest list of about 2,000 fellow Americans.  It was a night to remember, with great music from the Fabulous Motown Review and also Sheryl Crow.  We were afraid the President wouldn’t make it to our ball because the parade ran so late.  However, when the security guards came out and the military band started setting up their equipment, we knew something big was about to happen.  Then the color guard came up onto the stage that we were standing right in front of and took their places. Vice President Biden and his wife Jill first came out from each side of the stage curtains.  After flashing that famous smile and giving his thank you speech, they danced.  After they left, it got very quiet for almost an hour.  We thought for sure the President would not be able to make it to our ball.  Then, the band suddenly started playing “Hail to the Chief”.  The crowd exploded in applause and cheers as President Obama and Michele entered the stage!  They were a very beautiful, poised and gracious couple.  The crowd was shouting “We love you Mr. President, we’re proud of you!” and he said “I love you back!”  We were within 35 feet of the President, Michele, the Vice President and his wife Jill as they gave their speeches of appreciation to the crowed, and then danced.  We couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have experienced it all so closely!  What a night!  We’ll never forget it.
