Kolu, Richard D.  Born 7/27/47.  Died 9/6/25.  
Richard, 78, of Canyon, MN passed away in his home surrounded by family. He was born to Clinton and Victoria Kolu.

He was a Denfeld High School graduate of 1965. He then went on to the University of Minnesota Duluth graduating with a Masters of Art. From there he went on to Hamlin University graduating with a Law degree in 1980. Richard practiced law in Duluth for over twenty years.

Richard met his wife Barbara during their time at Denfeld High School. They were married in 1969 at Salem Covenant Church and were happily married for 56 years. In those wonderful years of marriage, they raised two children together, Abraham and Maia.

He and Barbara wintered in Port Isabel, Texas and spent their summers in Canyon, Minnesota. Some of Richards hobbies included dog sledding, four wheeling, gardening, enjoying the outdoors and traveling.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, parents and brothers, Jim Kolu and Tim Wilson.

He is survived by his son Abraham Kolu, daughter Maia (Jesse) Crane, grandchildren Victoria, Cooper, and Cameron.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Salem Covenant Church, 339 N. 59th Ave. W. Duluth, MN 55807, with a visitation at 9:30am followed by a service at 10am.
