Williams, Barry.  Born 06/13/47.  Died 05/26/07. Barry Leo Williams was born in Rush City, Minnesota. He lived 59 years, 11 months and 17 days. He passed away May 26, 2007 and was buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Salinas.

Barry grew up in Duluth, MN and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Janice Larson in 1967.

Barry was a loving son, husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

After Barry graduated from high school, he worked at Clyde Iron works as a machinist and he also graduated from Electronic Technical School in Duluth, MN.

He then went to and graduated from the Los Fresnos TX US Border Patrol Academy. After intensive training in the Spanish language he then joined the U.S. Border Patrol as an agent in 1970. He started his new occupation in El Centro and resided there several years before he was transferred to the Livermore Sector in CA. During those years he and his wife, Janice, also operated a real estate business in Salinas. They also owned a home in Lake Tahoe and spent a lot to time there. They operated an antique shop in Carmel for 18 years.

Barry retired from the Border Patrol at age 50 in 1997 and pursued other interests such as woodworking and vintage cars.

Barry was a man of substance. His sense of humor, his infectious laugh and nurturing qualities are the stuff of legends. He loved having barbeques with his family and friends. Barry really loved playing with his grandchildren. He was a talented storyteller and we miss his interesting and amusing stories.

Other interests of his include his two lovable cats, watching hockey, biking and hiking. He had a cat, Benjamin, that was his constant companion, who would lie on his lap when Barry was watching television and never strayed far from him. After Barry passed away, Benjamin grew listless and died shortly after in Janice's arms.

Barry's sudden death from a massive heart attack remains devastating to us all.

Barry is survived by his mother, Eleanor Williams of Las Vegas, NV; his wife, Janice of Lake Tahoe; son, Jay (Wendy) of Reno NV; daughter, Tricia (Matt) of Salinas; grandchildren, Jenna and Trevor; brother, Lloyd (Rosemary) of Las Vegas; sister, Cheryl (William) of Hong Kong and sister-in-law, Patricia Larson of Duluth, MN.

He lives in our memories forever; is dearly missed and is always in our hearts.
