St. Marie (Brandt), Virginia.  Born 8/21/47.  Died 11/9/17.

Virginia “Ginny” Lorraine Brandt (nee St. Marie) age 70, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away early Thursday, November 9th, 2017 with loved ones by her side after a brief illness.
Ginny was born August 21st., 1947 in Duluth, Minnesota and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lorraine (Glader) St. Marie.
She was a 1965 graduate of Denfeld High School and later earned her Associates Degree and dedicated her life to serving others working in social services and as a career counselor for most of her professional life. Ginny touched the lives of thousands of people through her work, volunteering, and through her generous and giving heart. After she retired, she made memory quilts and pillows to give comfort to those left behind and enjoyed volunteering at the Guest House in New Castle. Her gifts of light and love will live on forever in the people she helped as she shared her heart and time so selflessly. This brings comfort to her family during this difficult time.
She is survived by Jack Brandt, the love of her life and devoted husband of 41 years. Ginny and Jack loved to golf together, travel the world, spend time with family and friends, and to dance. Their moves on the dance floor were as effortless and beautiful as their love. Ginny is also survived by her children, Troy (wife, Amy) Morrison and Tracy (husband, Jed Duncan) Morrison and Jon Brandt and Jodi Brandt, to whom she loved and nurtured beyond what a mother is asked to do and taught them to be kind, giving, tenacious, and above all to laugh daily and to love fiercely. Ginny was a fun and loving Grammy and will be remembered for cheering at hundreds of baseball games and dance recitals, for running through the sprinklers, for playing games and for making every day feel like a holiday. But mostly, she was just so proud of her wonderful grandkids and will miss watching them become the giving and kind adults she knows they will be. Trey, Tyler, Trevor, Eloise, Esther and Astrid will forever keep their Grammy close to their hearts as they carry her memory with them. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Lucas Morrison, whom she is now holding and loving. She is also survived by her beautiful close and large family; her siblings, Sandy (Bob) Gunnarson, Susan St. Marie, Sally (Rick) Misiewicz, Peggy (Tony) Marino, Jerry (Debbie) St. Marie and Gail (Kermit) Altendorfer, several nieces and nephews and many other family and dear friends. They will miss the way she made every gathering a party, their sister vacations and her vivacious laughter.
Visitation will be held from 1-4p.m., on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at Hacker-Main & Davis Funeral Home, 2011 Broad St, New Castle, In. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Duluth, MN where a part of Ginny’s heart will always live. In lieu of flowers, she would love for you to honor her legacy of giving with a donation to The Guest House, 1407 Walnut Street, New Castle, IN. 47362
