Russell, James.  Born 10/20/46.  Died 5/6/17.  

Jim died unexpectedly after having bypass surgery.  Jim graduated from Denfeld High School in 1965 and attended trade school to become a Machinist. He moved to Minneapolis where he worked for AeroSpace Co.

Jim returned to Duluth in 1977 to take over his father's job of Star Route Driver for the US Postal Service. He also worked for Diamond Tool and then onto retail store owner of Central Sales in West Duluth. Jim loved the surplus business and after his retirement he turned his passion to flee marketing in Arizona and Minnesota.

Jim was a gentle man with a heart of gold. He loved to help his family, friends and neighbors. He loved animals and loved being on the river so he could fish and go boating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John 'Jack' and Eva; and brother, Pat.

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda; children, Kerri (Phil Birdseye), Lorri (Ed) Schumann; sons, Joel (Lynn), and Jason; seven grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Roger) Coon and Mary Lee (Tym) Mickolajak; and brother, Joseph (Vickie).

Visitation: 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Memorial Service, Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Friends of Animals Humane Society, 1001 Ave B, Cloquet, MN 55720.
