Scott, Bruce.  Born 5/29/47.  Died 10/2/15.

Bruce Marvin Scott, 68, of Duluth, passed away in his home with family by his side on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, after a 14-year journey with renal cell carcinoma.

Bruce was born in Duluth on May 29, 1947, to Marvin and Alloyce M. Scott.

He was a 1965 graduate of Denfeld High School after which he attended UMD. On March 18, 1967, he married Sharon Schadel in Christ Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a nuclear weapons specialist. After the military, he completed coursework at the Duluth Vocational Technical School and began working for Minnesota Power as an electronics technician. He retired in 2009 after 38 years of service.

He enjoyed wildlife, watching sports, participating in his softball leagues, playing cribbage, fishing, aviation, and baking 'golden goodies.' If there was something he couldn't fix, it wasn't worth fixing. He was very devoted to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Jean and Robert Schadel; niece Tara Lester, and his dogs Fritz, Daisy and Brutus.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon; son Brandon (Renae) of New Albany, Ohio; daughter Heather (Jeff) Ilse of Duluth; his grandson Ethan Ilse; twin brother Gene (Tracy Schmidt); sister Pat (Lewy) Smith; brothers Randy and Richard; sister-in-law Darlene (Gary) Lester; step mother-in-law Olivia Schadel; his niece Susie Angel; his nephews Patrick Jakubek, Jeremy Jakubek, Adam Lester, and Aaron Lester; his cat Tuffi, and many caring friends.

The family would like to thank the hospice team at Essentia Health.

At Bruce's request, no service will be held. He generously gifted his body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program to support medical research and education.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Lodge of Minneapolis, 612-379-6352.
